Playing safe with Purist
Pin-pointing the winner in the second leg of the quaddie is hard work but we finally settled on the in-form, race hardened (1) PURIST, who was placed behind subsequent strong performers War Ksar and Vigorhesta at Albany two starts back before a sound effort at Bunbury 12/02 last time out. Trainer Brendon Fitzgerald enjoys racing his horses in the region and (1) PURIST looks the horse to beat here, especially from the good barrier draw. On ability (4) BACK IN A MINUTE should probably be winning, but he has dwelt at the start at his past two starts and appears a bit of a risky proposition. Honest mare (8) TOPPED UP GIRL is never far away at the end of her races and she was actually a little stiff last start when held up at a crucial stage on the turn. Barrier is a concern but she should be finishing off, and stablemate (3) AND SO AM I has ability but is coming off a disappointing last start. If he brings his best he is a major player.

Has Blackspace finished the race yet? That was awful. Raced as if it wanted a lot more ground. How about a yard in the outback with plenty of ground?
