R6. Schweppes Watc Derby Day - Apr 16 Handicap - 1 January 1970

Magic Turner's back
Didn't take highly talented apprentice Jordy Turner long to make his presence felt when returning to the saddle after an injury enforced stint on the sidelines, riding King of the Palace to victory at his first meet back and then being whacked with a short suspension holiday from the Stewards immediately afterwards. He returns here and reunites with King of the Palace who made it back to back victories last start when beating Senso, Woolibar and talented types likes Volkoff, War Prince and Classical Prince. This race doesn't look a whole lot tougher and he is still down in the weights after the 2kg claim and drawn perfectly. No reason why he can't figure in the finish again. Lunar Eclipse is first-up without a trial after a 3 month freshen-up. Was in scintillating form last preparation and should enjoy the softest of runs from barrier 1. Miki Two Toes continues to savage the line and looked the winner with 100m to run last start before Kennocha kicked late and held him off by the narrowest of margins. With the claim for Randy Randy he should be the one to beat.
