R6. Jimmy Wong's Handicap - 1 January 1970

Tough as it gets
This 1400m 3 year olds event is very evenly graded, from Dark Rhythm at 52.5kg to Hold Your Tongue at 60kg almost every runner has claims to the first leg of the quaddie. Delicacy is two from two after a soft first-up victory and tackles 7 furlongs for the first time. Deserving favourite whose price is vastly disputed in early markets ranging from $4.60 available on Sportsbet to as little as $3.50 on TAB fixed odds. I've settled on Liberty Rise as I think the Tonto form will hold strong over time and the Blackfriars filly ran a cracker in that race. Dominant winner first-up at Northam when backed off the charts and then flew home over the final furlong to finish a long head second. Drawn in the river but will drift back in running anyway so shouldn't pose a huge problem, looks a capable type in an open race. Delicacy has a pefect record and should give favourite backers a genuine sight. Pontiff jumps on board First Among Equals and he should be in the finish again. Keysbrook returns and is yet to finish outside the top 2 in her 5 start career. Almost a field job for me.
