R6. Farnley Stakes - 1 January 1970

1400m specialist - Comfysofa
Hard to go past in form Gangemi gelding Rock Magic however, this is by far his hardest test to date. Notched up a winning hat-trick and gets in on the minimum, Noske riding well and the barrier draw is superb but anyone can tip a favourite so I'm going to go a little outside the box and go with Cofysofa for the Simon Miller camp. No doubt Simon would say "he's humming" if interview pre-race but hopefully we get a chance to hear his catchphrase post race. Winner at 4 from 7 over 1400m and just starting to warm up this preparation. Drawn awkwardly in barrier 8 but there doesn't look to be a lot of speed in this race. Whiting should be able to cross to the fence or alternatively sit outside potential leader Zester. Yet to win after 7 starts at Belmont which is a concern but if New Time can win two in a row after being 0 from 23 then surely he can too. Celebrity Miss is simply too good to be left out having won 6 from 12 at Belmont but is unplaced beyond 1200m. Looking for Bunbury Cup winner Classique Ivory to run a cheeky race first up at odds.
