Undefeated Snitzel Sensation Smoko is looking to record his first Listed Success and notch his 6th career victory when returning to the track from hoof issues. Trainers Ross and Clint Price team up with Pike again and WA's sprint king faces his toughest test yet. Coming up against a quality line up including Magnus Mare Magnifisio who has won her past five. Smoko is yet to win by less than 2 lengths after 5 races and at his four previous runs has started at $1.28, $1.35, $1.30 and $1.24 however, this is much harder. Initial acceptances top weight Barakey was withdrawn after being allocated 62kg and Magnifisio will carry 58.5 with every other runner on the 54kg minimum. On the ratings scale Magnifisio should be carrying 11.5kg more than Smoko however, will only be conceeding him 4.5kg. She will be forced to carry 58.5 which is 1kg more than she has ever carried. Only missed the money twice in her 18 start career and winner at 8 of her past 11. This is a mouth-watering clash and a quinella likely pay less than even money. Incredibly hard to split them with Smoko potentially having to work across from barrier 9 to lead or sit outside the leaders. I've settled on Magnifisio as she opened at $4.40 compared to Smoko's $1.60. That's a huge price about the Jim Taylor trained mare and from a superior barrier draw I'll be on her. Opinions likely to be split amongst analysts and punters alike and naturally we'd all love to see Smoko continue on his undefeated way and safely return to the track. Anything could run third, Rouge Dior has been trialling well for her return and can fly the gates. Celebrity Miss will chase hard. Recode can reel off a rapid final 600m but will be coming from a long way back. Soldier's Lass is a quality mare but looks outclassed here. Dueton will suffer from Jason Whiting electing to ride Comfysofa.
