R5. The Ramelius Resources Trophy - 1 January 1970

Hop Off, Hop Back On
I was pretty keen to Hop Off Lite 'N' In My Veins first-up in the Raconteur after being aboard him at his first two career victories. I'm jumping straight back aboard here and labelling him, alongside Wink and a Nod as the best on the card. There was a fair bit of mail around suggesting he was underdone first-up and not working at his brilliant best so I'm hoping that second-up he'll be naturally fitter and should safely account for this field. Only carries 57.5 after the claim for Randy Randy and considering he was shuffled back and 3 wide on a soft7 track from the 600 first-up from a spell without a trial I think he'll fly second-up and zap this lot. Not a whole lot of easier options for him with his rating and this field doesn't represent anywhere near the best WA has to offer. Cubit and Cundy ran a very cheeky race at almost 200-1 and after leading battled on well. Hard to see him holding out Lite 'N' In My Veins this time and with Headlander Boy in the race I doubt he'll be leading again. Irish Brother was impressive in his Bunbury maiden win and the majority of this field are no better than what he beat.

Agree with you assessment of Pike's ride on Star Exhibit. Started to make an earlier run but changed his mind. Then got caught napping and was left flat footed. I think our jockeys forget that they are riding horses and not cars. Can't just hit accelerator whe...

Nice preview, the tips are from Wednesday though :)Race 4 Star Exhibit - is the Perth bet of the day in my opinion. Has come back fantastically well this prep and the step to 1800m is ideal and logical. $2.70. Race 6 Showy Chloe – Back to 1400m for ...

And full credit to CJP for doing so. Think he rode all his mounts as positive as possible today and he has reaped the reward for doing so.

In hindsight I'm sure Parnham wished he had gone forward as he jumped on terms with Star Bay who ended up outside the leader and held second. All ancient history now though. CJP took the bull by the horns and got the chocolates

Disagree. Think Parnham would have been much better off going forward than restraining it early.Don't mean to have a got at him in particular and of course he was probably riding to instruction, but to me jockeys in general do that far to often when the option...

Taking nothing away from the winner as the other jocks let CJP get away with it but race 7 was like watching trackwork. Painful if you were on Ripper Rio Had every chance. Got a nice trail into it. Coming off a maiden win, bearing a mate of mine 's horse...
