Back Blue Palace, Save Rantorini

Blue Palace is regarded by Adam Durrant as one of the best staying fillies he's trained, formerly a rogue in the barriers, she is now a lot more settled in the prelim and provided she doesn't get too flustered by an anticipated crowd of well lagered Irishmen then she should be too good for these. Stepping up to 2000m for the first time in her career she is excellently placed on the 54kg minimum, drawn perfectly in barrier 2 with W.Pike in the saddle. If he can get her in clear running and not conceed the leader too many lengths then I think she will overpower them. Needs room to wind up but looks one of the better bets on the card. Rantorini showed enough promise last start to suggest she is returning to form. There was a sprinkling of money for her at decent eachway odds when running a game fifth to Son of Something and for that reason I expect her to run another good race here. I will most certainly have a saver on her. Paseo Del Prado couldn't get near Zarantz last start but had the others safely accounted for. Zarantz seems headed for better races and that form should hold up nicely. Going to take on the rest and just leave it at 3 in the first leg of my quaddie.

I would understand that comment IF OB had drawn further out than barrier 5,but barrier1 is the last thing you would instruct your rider to do!Mr M Campbell, you have alot of explaining to do!

Shame about the weather (mid to late arvo) for the meeting, but seemed like there was a pretty good crowd on hand and all seemed in good spirits - the club need one or two more of these 'days' throughout the Belmont season, as the three country specific 'days'...
