R5. Racing Hall Of Fame Inductee Northerly Handicap - 1 January 1970

Let's go Travellin'
Going with WA's in-form apprentice Clint Johnson-Porter or "The Hyphen" as Darren has dubbed him on numerous occasions. Travellin' has met with extremely strong market support in recent weeks and while I still think he is better suited at 1200m rather than 1000m I think he can prove too classy in this. Drawn perfectly in barrier 3 and well weighted with only 56.5kg on his back I think he will take a stack of beating and should prove a safe investment. Roman Fighter is harder to catch than Cyril Rioli and has been sacked as a betting proposition in my books. If he was a footballer he would be someone like Travis Cloke, kicking 3 goals 15 on a regular basis. Goes down to Albany and runs a shocker, comes back to Pinjarra and wins before being heavily supported in a midweeker and missing the kick. No surprise to see him win but whenever my dollars are on he kicks it out on the full. Marchand is ultra consistent and rarely runs a bad race. Drawn awefully for Jordy Turner but it may be a blessing in disguise if he can settle and finish off the race. De Andes is another who is incredibly hard to catch but will have supporters with W.Pike down to ride.

Due to Baraki Beats poor form on rain effected ground, perhaps the stewards are concerned that connections thought there was no point going forward and pressuring the stablemate Gigante. I have no problem with that as long as punters are informed of the change...

From the stewards report:BARAKI BEATS – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Had a tendency to lay outwards throughout running. Jockey R. Hill was questioned in relation to the gelding racing in a rearward position today as compared to its normal racing...

Was there some dramatic betting fluctuations in some of the races from this program ? I'm told Stewards have adjourned an inquiry into Race 6. Wasn't the move in the price from just $9 to $8 ?

Yes Saxy can be in the finish. My selection is (not normally one of mine) Verdello Blue It is ready to run a race up in distance with the claim and is a great each way bet. Quinella it and Saxy Grace.
