Mile no worries for Shilling

Selections

Our initial markets came up with five winning chances in this rating 58-plus handicap and we eventually settled on (1) SHILLING as our on-top selection, despite some growing concerns about his wayward racing manners. Tends to do a few things wrong still, but Peter Hall is on board and he will have learned a lot from their previous pairing at Mt Barker 15/03, and Hall was no doubt consulted regarding the decision to step (1) SHILLING up in distance for this assignment. (4) BLACK NEMESIS was a strong Albany 8/02 winner three starts back and placed a Bunbury 12/03 last start, beating home Ancient Spell who came out and won well at Albany recently. Drawn perfectly and warrants consideration along with (2) ORATISM, who is racing for the first time since November. Cannot underestimate the Darren McAuliffe yard and it is good to see him and his team back where it all started. And after tossing up between Steve Wolfe-trained pair (3) ELITE FLIGHT and (8) PINS PERHAPS for fourth, we finally settled on recent Golden Bracelet winner (3) ELITE FLIGHT.

Danny Miller for once didn't ride the Country Cup winner, but young Jerry certainly took a leaf out of his book with that display..
