Bold front-runner (3) ALVARES looks well placed returning to the Great Southern region after finishing unplaced in 72-plus company at Ascot 15/11. Went far too hard out in front on that occasion and simply had no petrol left in the tank at the finish. (3) ALVARES was an Ascot winner when well-rated in front two starts back, and he should be able to lead without too much pressure here and take some catching in the straight. One horse capable of challenging is (1) DAINTREE ROAD, who looks ready to fire now after two runs back from a spell. We liked the way he worked through the line when third at Mt Barker 16/11. (2) SONNY BISCAY is the other class runner of the race and he will appreciate carrying only 55kg after Casey Hunter?s claim, and (5) COME QUICKLY is the best of the rest.
