Screaming out for 2000m and W.Pike

Shanghai Grey has rocketed to the line over 1300 and 1400m this preparation, third up from a spell the Ihtiram gelding steps up to 2000m and 3kg claiming apprentice Sasha Starley who has ridden 1 metro winner in her career is replaced by William Pike who has ridden 67 winners this season alone at a strike rate of 17%. Two big ticks going into the Dayana Plate. Pike will be looking for a race to race double over 2000m when he rides nominal Oaks favourite Tick Tick Bloom in the Oaks. But back to the Colts and Geldings race, with an electric turn of foot the stylish grey should be thundering down the outside and storming home to victory. Pike will allow him to settle back in the field but should be getting cover from barrier 2 and a much softer run in transit then his past couple. Without an obvious leader and probably ultimately a slowly run 2000 I'm happy to be aboard the horse capable of reeling off the fastest final 600. Proceedwithcaution took off well before the turn and was forced to trek very deep into the corner working extremely hard and ultimately fading to finish a respectable fifth beaten a length and a half in the Guineas. Ben Kennedy takes the mount, blinkers have been removed and he has drawn favourably. Shades of Rio ran a fast finishing fifth to Gladstone after getting incredibly far back behind tear away leaders Hinzley and Amarna, Jarrad Noske jumps aboard and he is looking to follow in the footsteps of Ora Dare and become another rare Oratorio to get up over a distance.
