Kirov Boy made an incredible leap from a metro70 to a metro81 after his last start front running victory over Hel Cool and Rive Gauche and as such meets all opponents a lot worse at the weights. Taking nothing away from his efforts this campaign but I simply can't be aboard a horse who has jumped from a m62 to m81 in 5 starts, as well as the fact that with his racing style or more over Danny Millers riding style the 58.5 looks to make his job near impossible. He will run them along out in front as will Rive Gauche, Doubtable and Verdello Blue which in my opinion will open the door for a horse like Dubai Escapade to run over the top if they are ridden with initiative. I was aboard last week when Lucy settled 3 back the fence and then pushed into open space rounding the corner and was able to reel the leaders in using up the entire 2200m, if she can keep him in open going this weekend and getting him winding up from the 600 to ensure the leaders don't get too far in front then I think he can make it back to back victories. For second I'm throwing up one of my favourites in Ask Me Nicely. While his recent form on paper looks fairly weak I think he is about ready to show his best. Loves Belmont Park with 5 victories and a 50% top 3 strike rate at the track. With Chris Parnhams claim he gets in with only 57.5 and doesn't mind a true staying test, don't forget he was caught 3 and 4 deep the trip in the Perth Cup and ran 3rd behind Black Tycoon. Gladstone is Gladstone, enough said. Back him with due caution.
