Wink gets the Nod
Wink and a Nod was highly impressive first up in midweek company, safely accounting for her rivals and scoring her fourth win from eight starts. Parked three wide throughout she powered away in the straight to win comfortably. She beat Deb's Delight by 1.75 lengths with petrol in the tank and on the strength of that second placing many had Deb's Delight as their best bet of the day on Wednesday at Belmont and she duly saluted. Barrier 1 is the obvious concern, she is a big strong mare who would obviously prefer open galloping room but having said that the speed should be turned on early with the likes of Marmaa and War Prince likely to charge forwards from their respective alleys. If she can get clear running on straightening the she'll be hard to hold out. Let's Lighten Up is better than his last preparation suggests, placed at 50% of career runs and boasting a 21% winning strike-rate he is over the odds at $10, especially with Pike in the saddle. Lost Heritage has been freshened up and holds a 2 from 2 first-up record, will settle back in the field and be storming home late. Ran Cool Trade to 1.5 lengths and has knocked off Chinetti in the past. Paseo Del Prado was absolutely crunched at his debut run in WA last preparation and made many bookmakers cry, expect another bold showing first-up.
