Young hoop Yannick Valenti came under fire after his ride on (1) TEKAPO TANGO at Albany 2/11, but he gets his chance to make amends here. Valenti allowed the free-wheeling gelding to establish a big break mid-race and held a sizeable lead at the top of the straight, but (1) TEKAPO TANGO ran out of steam and could only manage fourth. He looks suited dropping back to 1100m, will strip fitter second-up from a spell, and this fellow should simply lead all the way here. (8) LET ME IMPRESS looks the best of the rest after her fighting third at Mt Barker 16/11. The distance may be a tad short but she?s in on the minimum weight and should get a nice run just behind the pace. (3) BIG BOTH WAYS has only won once from 15 outings but does have her share of ability. May be a bit underdone without a trial under her belt but she should still be competitive, especially with only 51kg on her back. (7) KEY HEDGE had strong Wild Ruby form during her previous campaign and that reads well here.
