Finally a race with more than 7 runners, and another short priced favourite involved. The Durrant trained gelding steps back up to 2100m and guns for 3 victories in a row. With Pike on board it is the deserving favourite, but not my on top selection. In a wide open affair I'm going to throw the light weight Uncle George on top for a bit of value. Has been well supported in its last 2 runs, and they were better than what they read. It will enjoy the step up in distance and should get a good run from barrier 4. Dark alert has shown that it is a very tough horse and like always will be grinding away down the straight. Tarquinn shadow gave punters a great sight when almost leading from start to finish before just being run down by the favourite, however if it can run out the distance I think it can turn the tables. Saxy Grace is third up over a distance and will definitely show improvement from its first two runs, and you always have to respect Durrant in a distance race. Has won third up before and if their is money, I'll definitely be following and throwing some on each way. Cougar Express is not suited with the drop in distance and Fulgar needs a softer track. Wide race, and just like my mate sticks when it's his round, I will be keeping my wallet closed.

I would have suggested Spangled Impact, but even her times were not fantastic looking towards a Karrakatta Plate. She would want to improve considerably. 2YO's need to be running low 1.05's over 1100M to be considered a threat in a KK. 1.07 on a track rate...

Well that's the reason I ask in the first place. But most years, the eventual good 2YO's and thereafter, haven't emerged by this time.

if its the best so far.. who is going to be the threat then Damien? I think Trademark might come on after its win a few weeks back.

agree regarding Spangled Impact. Maybe we haven't seen the best 2yo's come out to play yet?

In the 2YO race, they didn't break the minute, and the last 600M wasn't particularly fast either. So could any of the smarter types on here let me know if any 2YO's so far this season have impressed, or are they at this stage just a bit pedestrian ? I just kee...
