Obvious quinella - Outlaw Ships
Outlaw Pete and Silver Magic Ships look to have this race between them. Both last start winners and both impressive types. Outlaw Pete settled midfield in a 1300m Pinjarra maiden and when he was asked for an effort simply accelerated like a horse classes above his rivals. On debut finished a half length behind Sleepy Striker which has proved a more than handy form reference. Silver Magic Ships was an even money favourite at Belmont in midweek company over 1400m, sent straight to the top by Pike, controlled the race and dominated a Properantes, Priceless Rock and Cocheta who are all in this race. Step up to a mile should be perfect and if allowed to control the tempo should be hard to beat again. $2.20 is a short quote for a 3 year old filly in her first crack at a mile but the way she responded when tested by Pike at the top of the straight suggests she is something special. On debut Silver Magic Ships was able to make up considerable ground on a rain affected heavy track so the storm Perth is expecting shouldn't make a lot of difference to her chances. I expect Outlaw Pete to be the obvious and only danger, running on hard and those two may well gap the rest. Keen on the quinella for safety. Properantes looks the best of the rest with Turner jumping off last start winner Back Drop to retain the mount.
