King River is a regally bred gelding for Bob and Sandra Peters, a $220 000 purchase, who took advantage of the cutaway on debut to win at Pinjarra by a short neck. This is harder but he should improve. Helms Gate hit the line hard behind Madassa and will appreciate a step back up to 1200m.

Never took to Ranger. Never backed it. Could never understand the enthusiasm for the horse. Was he ever the same after he got flattened in Luckygray's infamous Railway Stakes win of 2011? :-?
