Barney Beau is the go
This was a tough maiden to sort through but we have gone with the race-fit, in-form (3) BARNEY BEAU after his encouraging second placing behind the smart Bourbon Dynasty at Bunbury 25/03. Peter Hall, the form rider in WA, has been booked for the ride and should be able to get the best out of this sparingly-raced five-year-old. We were rather taken with the Belmont 9/03 trial of (13) ENTRECHAT and were seriously considering placing him in top, but he is racing first-up from an outside barrier and we decided to take a slightly cautious approach. (4) BORNANI hails from the all-conquering Vaughn Sigley stable and had no luck after drawing wide over 1400m at Pinjarra 29/03. We're expecting an improved performance from an inner barrier draw here, and (2) ACQUITTED is returning from a lengthy absence, but has drawn well and did display promise in the Great Southern this time last year.
