Race-fit Gibraltar has the edge
(1) GIBRALTAR ROCK set a solid tempo in front second-up at Mount Barker 16/11 and under normal circumstances would have notched up his maiden win, but he ran into a smart one in first starter Quality Fair. Has the natural gate speed to work forward from his awkward barrier and also has race fitness on his side. Looks ready to break through here. (5) RUN LIAM RUN was the standout performer at the Albany 2/11 trials when displaying a sharp turn of foot to swoop down the middle of the straight and record a smart win. We have a bit of time for this fellow but would like to see him deliver on raceday before recommending him with total confidence. (10) COMMODORO has sound inner-provincial form and should get the run of the race from the good barrier. (7) CHENGDU is a recent arrival at the Gerry Hughes stable and was listed-placed at Ascot last season. Winning chances have been hindered by the wide barrier.
