R2. Piper-heidsieck Handicap - 1 January 1970
|
Blanket finish
As always I wont be including Savanarola in my selections because my owners bias is ever growing. With some luck the #rola will make it 5 wins from his past 6 starts and the beers will flow. As always in these top class WA staying events one name comes to mind, Adam Durrant. He has 3 runners engaged who will likely have a stranglehold over the betting. Son of Something is the hardest to beat for mine, efforts this time in have been excellent and he gets out to a suitable journey for the first time this preparation. Has a bit of a class edge over these I think and his superior turn of foot should see him win. Gladstone and Mystic Prince are quickly being pegged as serial place-getters while Dubai Escapade just keeps getting the job done. Tough race with plenty of chances.

I sat on my all ups after my initial winner. Was never a fan of Miki Two Shoes but god bless it today.

On better going Bonny Zara could turn the tables on Tangier. Demuro to run a bold race at odds and Smarty Wilson is way overs at $61
