Veuve De Vega was held up like Simba by Rafiki on debut. The half brother to Detection never saw daylight in the straight with Jake Casey copping a deserving suspension for his aggressive ride on the 2 year old gelding. Had absolutely no where to go and like a turbo in a Holden Ute simply whacked down the indicator and merged into traffic with the left hand on the steering wheel, a dart in the right hand and Wolfmother screaming through the "fully sick subwoofer". I think if Veuve De Vega can get a fair crack at them here then he is the one to beat. David Harrison trained pair On The Turps and Malilangwe have blinkers added to race gear for their second career start and much like 2 year old stable mates Ellen's Choice and Cosmic Ballet we can expect sharp improvement with the gear adjustment and race experience. Between those 3 and Speedy Ladidi I think you should have the trifecta safely covered in the opener.

Due to Baraki Beats poor form on rain effected ground, perhaps the stewards are concerned that connections thought there was no point going forward and pressuring the stablemate Gigante. I have no problem with that as long as punters are informed of the change...

From the stewards report:BARAKI BEATS – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Had a tendency to lay outwards throughout running. Jockey R. Hill was questioned in relation to the gelding racing in a rearward position today as compared to its normal racing...

Was there some dramatic betting fluctuations in some of the races from this program ? I'm told Stewards have adjourned an inquiry into Race 6. Wasn't the move in the price from just $9 to $8 ?

Yes Saxy can be in the finish. My selection is (not normally one of mine) Verdello Blue It is ready to run a race up in distance with the claim and is a great each way bet. Quinella it and Saxy Grace.
