R1. Nexus Risk Services Handicap - 1 January 1970

Three straight for Insurgency
Albany-based trainer Garry Delane has his team firing at present and he looks like kicking off today's meeting in style with (1) INSURGENCY appearing to have a mortgage on this race. The 10-year-old has relished dropping back to the Great Southern scoring back-to-back wins and a quirk in the handicapping sees him meet (2) BACKHOUSE STREET one-kilo better despite defeating him by 1-1/4 lengths at Mt Barker 31/12. (1) INSURGENCY looks unbeatable on weights. (2) BACKHOUSE STREET is a good competitor and has won twice over this journey at Belmont in the past. He is the obvious danger, especially with the region's leading rider (Shaun McGruddy) on board. (5) MASTER ROBSON is on the quick back-up after a midfield finish at Bunbury 3/01, but is a dead-set stayer and drops 4.5kg here. He made up a lot of ground last start and is more than capable on his day, and (3) CAPE FEAR doesn't win too often but is racing fairly well and is fourth best.
