R1. Lunar Raceday On Feb 13 Plate - 1 January 1970

Blinkers on does the trick
The fields for todays meet reminds me a bit of myself, small but enticing. Guest express is the first of the 4 odds on favourites in these small fields and from barrier 1 looks the one to beat. However, I was quite impressed with the run of the David Harrison Trained Equine Wiz, which comes from the same race as the short price elect. It missed the kick, ran wide for majority of the race and ran on strongly from the back of the field. I am a huge fan of Blinkers going on to 2 year olds on their second start after showing some form of ability and running on in their first race. Equine Wiz should hopefully settle a bit closer and run over the top of this field, in which I think lacks depth even with just 7 runners. Simon Miller is renowned for crunching his horses in the betting markets when they are a good thing, so don't be surprised to see the shorts get taken and it lead all the way and win. I can't see Tide Up changing the tables on either of the 2 top weights and I was not overly impressed with the triallers. Will throw one of the Parnham triallers, Rock River in for third. Raced very very greenly in his only trial over 400m, but once settled finished off strongly. One to follow after a bit of maturing.

I would have suggested Spangled Impact, but even her times were not fantastic looking towards a Karrakatta Plate. She would want to improve considerably. 2YO's need to be running low 1.05's over 1100M to be considered a threat in a KK. 1.07 on a track rate...

Lucky Street emerged before this time last year

Well that's the reason I ask in the first place. But most years, the eventual good 2YO's and thereafter, haven't emerged by this time.

if its the best so far.. who is going to be the threat then Damien? I think Trademark might come on after its win a few weeks back.

agree regarding Spangled Impact. Maybe we haven't seen the best 2yo's come out to play yet?

Spangled Impact is the best 2yo so far

In the 2YO race, they didn't break the minute, and the last 600M wasn't particularly fast either. So could any of the smarter types on here let me know if any 2YO's so far this season have impressed, or are they at this stage just a bit pedestrian ? I just kee...
