Tough start to Ascot

Firstly, we send our most heartfelt condolences to the families of Carly-Mae Pye and Caitlin Forrest who both tragically lost their lives this week. Secondly, wishing the remaining racing community a safe spring racing carnival. First few weeks back at Ascot can be difficult until the form lines settle down with a mixture of horses returning for the summer and those finishing their winter campaign chasing one last cheque. I've settled on the two Adam Durrant trained runners to begin the Ascot season in somewhat of a bracket selection, both at eachway odds. Blue Palace looks well placed with W.Pike in the saddle, on the 54kg minimum and drawn to drift back in running and wind up as they swing the bend. Was never suited running on the rails behind talented Fathnoxious last start and should appreciate the 1730m. For those wondering its 70m shorter to avoid newly laid turf at the crossing. Ziva Star has finished within a length of the winner at her past 5 inlcuding a victory over Mendicity, first crack at 1700m but looks on paper like she will get a soft lead with only possibly Ask Me Nicely to be sent forwards. Dubai Escapade returns from a 42 day freshen up and will be hitting the line hard.
