Im thinking Guyno a moral .Fantastic run in the KT upto 2400m now at WFA he should prove to one of the best bets of the day
Cats Fun would only have to run in the first 3 to be winning the Perth Cup he has had a perfect prep Cats Fun but i reckon Guyno would get him at WFA .
IMO
Also on the card keep an eye on the following tips .
Metro Miss
Key Dynasty
Girlplay
General Conclusion
There is winners a plenty .

dungy..as much as you think guyno a moral, i think "spicey" will knock him over...main reason? wont be a hot pace so he wont be set up to run home late like at the 1800,spicey will be a few lengths in front rounding the turn and without having burned most of his reserves this time, will kick away IMO. cant say guyno has the wood on him at 2400 because spicey had a fairly significant setback just prior and still ran a gallant fourth.IN IT right up to his ears the spice boy 8)

New Spice is possibly the best horse in the race, but will he be fit enough?....... I know some who have their doubts.
Shame Pentempo is taking the soft options into the Cup, would have made the Cox even more interesting

Pentempo ? Weight will be all important in the cup. Win the cox and he would of copped a fair amount in the cup. FM is the master of getting them there on cup day to win.

Think you will find the Cox carries no penalty as it's WFA

New Spice ; Imagine a Paul Harvey or William Pike on this horse.... Don't get me wrong Jess can ride but it's something i would really like to see on this horse ; A change of jockey.........

you make a good point rumbler for sure,no knock on jess either but a few have mentioned newy may have lost something not having a "big race" jock....trainer very loyal and valas does do a good job.....

Also, whilst i like cats fun ...cant help thinking lately are we maybe going to see another black tom like win for pentempo?? definitely possible ,cant see any outside this two winning it personally

I can see it happening M&P..... He won with a leg in the air yesterday and i think the 3,200m will be right up his ally...... With the cup just over a fornight away, unless there is a scratching I'm going to say Pentempo will win the cup with Cat's Fun being the only horse to get within a few lengths of him if he's lucky......

yep ablett throws in the odd skewiff comment(at least :P )one in every bunch to ruin a reasonable conversation....

one more thing re jess, think there will be less pressure on her next wed. and if spicey draws ok  she can roll forward and relax a bit after getting possied up(here's hoping anyway)...

Yeah she'll certainly have a bit more time up her sleeve to get out and try and get him into a good position...... Just needs a bit more luck to go her way and its about time this horse got some..... Where do you think prime position is for this horse in a race like this M&P......

rumbler, based up on his distance runs last prep id be thinking one out breezing , or at worst one out or on the fence one back but definitely in first four at worst, wouldnt be all that uncomfortable if jess lead if no-one else wants to...fitness query i read earlier im not so sure about? he has had 2 x 1400,1 x 1600 and the KT run 8 days ago..which was a bloody good hit out for him i might add.....would have blown a bit imo.
He obviously pulled up ok to run wed. so i think he will be fit enough..perhaps the query relates to jumping from 1800 to 2400 ?? Did bolt in a listed event at 2200 last prep after a listed 1800 win so again im not too concerned personally.Deserves a big win,can only speculate about the derby result had he not contracted colitis in the lead up.

guyno racing better now than last prep should be a great race to watch new spice a good horse but guyno will win imo :D but agree would love to see a new rider on new spice might just give that little extra

Being honest, Jessica Valas has denied new spice a good run in majority of its starts. the trainer/owner did get offered a 6 figure sum of money for the horse before its last win but didn't take it. Fingers crossed the trainer can keep perservering with Jessica and she can win this one! Riding it 3 wide the whole way doesn't do the horse any justice. Old Spice's progeny seem to run good fresh so it may be a chance providing it gets a good ride. When you have such a good horse you need either Paul Harvey, Willie Pike (providing he isn't suspended), troy turner, peter knuckey, jason brown or Shaun McGruddy.

By the way, Kia Ora Miss is my tip. Im only backing it for the place, but it will pay very well indeed. She will be a good one for the trifecta's

Kia Ora Miss can't and won't win.

Guyno and New Spice will dominate the race.

That might be the case for New Spice, but Bob Peters and Lindsay Smith used to say that Old Spice stock need hard work and love buttering up, to get the best out of them.

New Spice is a class animal and should be more than competative in that race.
  • darkshinesdarkshines    2,837 posts
I'd have to agree with bf there, Old Spice's need racing. New Spice had a good hard run in the F&V, under the whip at both ends. He should be right for this.

Won't pay anything for running nowhere..........

hmmmmm and thats why majority of Lindsay Smiths horses are shin sore.....

ha ha ha ha well wednesday we shall see how Kia Ora Miss goes... 36 starts, 26 cheques for the owners...not bad if i do say so myself.

Daka's Gem is ticking over nicely showing slight improvement with each run so far and will be competetive especially over this trip but by the sounds of it he is only running for third place.
Although i do agree Guyno is the one to beat
($7 for the Guyno/CB Cox-Pentempo/cup double looks very tempting) wink

Oh god no, i know Kia Ora Miss aint going to win the Cox stakes. Im only putting it down for a place and in the trifecta.

Think offer was a million bucks HB....according to my recollection of the west australian article anyway...Good on them for knocking it back i say! Spicey has drawn crap barriers quite often so bit harsh on valas(has won 6 races on him) but concede again that there are undoubtedly better riders available(i.e. if he went over east as mentioned id suspect valas wouldnt travel over, local jock imperative imo).....
wednesday they get a big chance to rack up win no. 7!

Maybe so Henleybrook, but he does seem to get results. Currently on http://www.expertform.com/ he has a strike rate of 3.2. Did produce Old Cobber first up to win this race a few years ago...not many trainers out there have produced that type of training milestone (King of Saxony/Miller is only one I can think of). Must be doing do something right!

Kia Ora Miss record is great. This time on she has had 1 trial and 5 runs since 15/10/07 without producing anything outstanding. Should be at her peak fitness you would think...so are you saying she is at her peak for Wednesday?
