Perth Turf Talk is excited to announce its latest competition, Raceday, Perth's tipping premiership sponsored by PUNTA.

Raceday is a completely unique concept and offers weekly prizes for punters.

Here's all you need to know.

  • Raceday is free to enter and it is optional to tip each week. As long as you are registered with our forum you can join the competition at any time.

  • Each week all entering participants are grouped into 'races' of 8. For example if 80 people submit their tips then 10 races of 8 are formed.

  • Each competitor selects one horse in each race and that selection represents a $1 x $1 each way bet (tote prices). Scratched runners will receive the substitute.

  • At the conclusion of the Saturday Ascot meeting each Raceday race will award the tipster with the highest return the winner, along with a second placegetter and a third placegetter.

  • $5 PUNTA betting credit will be awarded to the winner, $3 for second and $1 for third in each Raceday race.

  • Every entrant will have their record maintained, such as 5 starts (5 weeks tipped) for 1 win, 2 seconds and a third.
  • Over time the most successful Raceday participants will be grouped in 'Stakes' race worth higher PUNTA betting prizemoney.

  • Raceday 'carnivals' will be held periodically where higher PUNTA prizemoney will be available and those highest on the overall ladder will be selected for the main races. The overall ladder will be ordered by wins, prizemoney and total return.

  • Once you have earned $20 or more in PUNTA betting dollars, your PUNTA account will be credited that amount. You must have a verified PUNTA account to receive the credit.

Raceday begins this Saturday and will be held every Saturday with tipping open Thursday morning.

Stay tuned for opening details.

How long is this competition for?

What can people tip on? Gallops, Dogs, Greyhounds?

Looks very good to me. Better get my PUNTA account opened (just in case....) [-O<

Does Punta bet on harness racing? That's my bread and butter. What's the minimum opening account? I don't think I'll be depositing much money at all if Punta doesn't field harness racing bets. Probably will open an account just to earn points from this competition to be very honest.
  • ChrisChris    5,734 posts
TSS, it's Ascot Saturday and no PUNTA does not offer harness at this stage. I can't speak for future plans.

E-mail question; "what happens if you don't tip?"

Nothing, you remain in the contest however you don't better your ranking or put yourself in the running for prizemoney.

so does that mean you dont "nominate" for a race that weekend? You're at home in the paddock basically?
  • ChrisChris    5,734 posts
Correct, having a spell. Might be strategic if it's a tough week or you're just out on the grog and forget to put your tips in.

Must you have a Punta account at the very beginning of the comp and can you get one later and any credit added retrospectively?

do you know the minimum amount to open an account with Punta?
  • ChrisChris    5,734 posts
There is no minimum to open an account so I would suggest having one ready to go if you're getting involved

Good to see it is based on profit. I like that. Makes people look for value instead of the odds on favourites all the time. Well done to all concerned. This is truly a great competition. Hopefully it'll run long term well into next year. Sounds like the best comp yet. Hope people's tips are displayed somewhere as well so we can bet on the most selected runners as well.

Hey boys this might be up somewhere else but when can/do Punta open up there markets for the weekend?
  • TSSTSS    1,401 posts
I thought I read that they can only open up on the morning of the meeting? From 7am?

Read they can only field betting if they are physically at that track.

look for it under the heading "raceday" instead of the normal "competition" header...Will that stop you being lost??

now under heading "tipping"   I'll update next hour with whatever they are going to call it then!!!!

Obviously following the great marketing philosophy of Tabtouch, Ozbet, WA Tab, the Totaliser Board....if you change the name often; the masses will come flocking..

    =))

What is 100 points for verification? Passport and Driver's Licence? Is that all?

What if the documents don't get verified before the weekend is over, will the post earnt this Saturday goes unrewarded?

I think as long as the documents are verified before your prizemoney total hits $20 then it should be OK right?
  • TheDivaTheDiva    13,248 posts
    you can verify electronically.
    just fill in the fields.
if that works, you dont need to provide ID at all.
Address and proper full name is all important.
you dont need to verify for 21 days, but better to do it straight away.

    That's fantastic.

    I was going on this...

For regulatory reasons, PUNTA is required to verify the identity of all new Australian customers within 21 days.

Once you have opened an account you must provide a scan of 100 points of required identification documents within 21 days to admin@punta.com.au. Verification can take up to 3 days and is free of charge.

I thought I would had to scan/photo my 100 pt ID documents and then email the above address.

If it can be done electronically using some database then you can skip this step right?

  • TheDivaTheDiva    13,248 posts
    correct!
  • TSSTSS    1,401 posts
Thanks Diva. I've joined. Look forward to using it for Ascot/Belmont and TAB for everything else until Punta gets more options to play with.

How does this comp know which Punta account to link which username to?

When you get to $20 betting credit there's a withdraw feature where you enter your username.
