R1. Westspeed Nursery Handicap - Gary Wright

An unusually big field of two year olds to start the day, its hard to ignore the form line of Coruscation and Spin Da Wheels though, both have been most impressive of late. In the end it comes down to does the weight advantage and slightly better barrier draw weigh enough in Spin Da Wheels favour to tip him as the selection, and maybe the answer is not quite enough. Coruscation has been so impressive at his last two starts that I feel we must tip him to three-peat here. Spin Da Wheels looks the obvious danger, he is backing up from his victory here last Saturday, but is racing very well at present. Vital To Be Welsh has flooded home at her last couple of starts and the 1400 metres appears to suit her today, and Ram Jam might be another at good each way odds for novelty punters, he led and won very easily last start at Pinjarra.

1. CORUSCATION - 2. SPIN DA WHEELS - 16. VITAL TO BE WELSH

SUGGESTED BET - 1. CORUSCATION $40

Hard to go past what will probably be a pretty short priced favorite in Mr Utopia here, he was extremely impressive last start when charging home to win over 1400 metres, it was memories of Maschino in his early days unwinding down the outside of the track. He steps up to the mile today, if anything you would think that enhances his chances, the 59kgs is a burden to carry but that comes with winning races, I still expect him to win this race today. Profound Effect has been racing very consistently of late, has the claim for Chris Parnham here and you would expect a similar effort once again today. Clsing Time has won at three of seven starts including his last start here at the midweeks, also has a claim for the other star apprentice in Ben Paterson and looks a good place chance once again. King Of Wu meets Mr Utopia better on weights than at their last clash, doubtful he could turn the tables on him but still looks to have novelty prospects in this race.

    1. MR UTOPIA - 3. PROFOUND EFFECT - 2. CLOSING TIME

    SUGGESTED BET - 1. MR UTOPIA $80

    R3. Facebook.com/perthracing Handicap - Gary Wright

Black Romeo is another paying the price for winning of late as he goes up to 61.5kgs for this race, the claim for Mitchell Pateman will help him today no doubt. He goes up in distance here to the mile and surprisingly hasnt run a place in two starts over this distance, but it does appear as if it will suit him as he can come home with a powerful sprint as he did last start, I guess he was destined to win last start for Mitchell Pateman following the family tragedy, and its hard to go past him doing it again today, he looks the class horse in the best form in this race. Sky Magic has been racing pretty well, she can mix her form a little, but from the good draw can run another good race today, Jerry Noske claims 3kgs and had ridden her well of late. First Flight has been in good form albeit in easier company recently but looks a good place chance in this race, and Full Steam Ahead has disappointed of late, but if anywhere near his best must also be a chance in this event.

    1. BLACK ROMEO - 3. SKY MAGIC - 12. FIRST FLIGHT

    SUGGESTED BET - 1. BLACK ROMEO $20 x $20

R4. Westspeed Stayers Bonus Handicap - Gary Wright

This race has been thrown wide open with the scratching of the star of the Winter in Summah's Touch. I guess most tipsters second pick was going to be Cyber Crime, so this ultra consistent horse gets his chance to notch another victory. At least he has won twice in this preparation, he was seemingly running second every start in his last campaign, but he should race in a forward position once again today and give them something to run over in the straight. Starlight Lady ran a much improved race last start when winning here, she was in wonderful form over the summer and if running up to her last effort is a chance once again today, she does rise 3kgs on her last win but regains the services of top hoop Paul Harvey. Operational is the iron horse of WA distance racing, he steps out again today and is down in the weights with the claim for apprentice Aaron Mitchell, he is always a chance over this journey. Malaika and Rantorini also have place claims at least, both a little disappointing last start but capable of better.

    5. CYBER CRIME - 3. STARLIGHT LADY - 2. OPERATIONAL

    SUGGESTED BET - 5. CYBER CRIME $20 x $20

    R5. Tabtouch.mobi Handicap - Gary Wright

This is one of the more difficult races to predict today. I See Luck has been racing well without winning of late, he probably gets his best chance this afternoon, he has a good record over the six furlongs, and is drawn to get a really good run in transit here. He has finished a placegetter at his last three starts behind some good types, and will be the selection to break through today. The big danger appears to be When We Were Kings, he was a good winner last start and has had a slight let up since that victory, hence the switch back to 1200 metres here. He looks to also have bright prospects today, he always seems to run a good race for his backers. Stock Trader is another who always seems to give you a run for your money but has found it hard to win of late, and Marmaa backs up from last week where he led and ran fourth to a promising type in Celebrity Miss.

    6. I SEE LUCK - 3. WHEN WE WERE KINGS - 9. STOCK TRADER

R6. Famous Roman At Rivercrest Park Handicap - Gary Wright

Platinum Rocker won her sixth race from eight starts last week, she is another horse racing on consecutive Saturdays, there are a few of them today, but she does look to be the one to beat in this race. She does rise to the mile for the first time this afternoon and will need a little luck to land in a good position from a tricky barrier but she is the class of the race and will be the on top selection today. The Corporation continues to race very well, he meets Platinum Rocker better on weights from a one length defeat last week and the mile holds no fears for him, so expect a close tussle in this race, maybe the class of the Rocker just gets her home again today. Galoubay won very easily last start, he had been working up to that victory, the outside barrier does him no favours here but he is racing too well to dismiss, he is another that has raced well over this journey previously. Fanicio is another in good form and True Gold is very consistent, this is a good race.

    2. PLATINUM ROCKER - 1. THE CORPORATION - 3. GALOUBAY

    SUGGESTED BET - 2. PLATINUM ROCKER $30 x $30

    R7. H.g. Bolton Sprint - Gary Wright

A few of these renew acquaintances from the Beaufine Stakes two weeks ago, the biggest variable is the rise to 1200 metres today. Kalahaar ran on only fairly in the Beaufine its probably fair to say but the switch to 1200 metres seems to suit him down to the ground, he has only been unplaced once at this trip and once again will carry only 54kgs, expect a much better showing from him this afternoon. Settle Strada returned in fine fettle winning the Beaufine quite easily in the end, he does have a good record at the trip and also second up, so expect another strong showing from him this afternoon. The Entourage ran a very nice race first up at good odds, he is another with a good record second up so he should go well here, and may be at each way odds once again. Barnsley Lad was a star of the Autumn, he returns for a short preparation over the next few weeks, he will no doubt improve on todays run, but he is all class. Honest Lies, Zester and Pop Culture add class to the main event of the day.

    9. KALAHAAR - 6. SETTLE STRADA - 7. THE ENTOURAGE

    SUGGESTED BET - 9. KALAHAAR $30

R8. Amelia Park Sprint - Gary Wright

How long can Hans Up remain unbeaten is the question, currently he is five from five and will no doubt start a pronounced favorite once again today. He is drawn very wide at the 1000 metre start so may require some luck in running to not do too much work early in the race, but apart from that he just looks the winner here and can make it six wins. Tiger Pete looks the main danger, he is the other class horse in this race and might be a good ride for Ben Paterson as he chases the apprentices premiership, he can produce a paralysing burst at the end of his races when he is in tip top form, he returns today after a four month lay off so will be interesting to see how he comes back this time in. Pinnici may have had excuses last start, we had better forgive that aberation anyway and go on his impressive victory a start earlier here at Belmont. The scratching of the speedy Donnyonetime may have helped the chances of Grey Cheval, he may be able to cross even though she is drawn out in the river almost, will appreciate the drop in weight from her previous starts.

    8. HANS UP - 2. TIGER PETE - 9. PININCI

    SUGGESTED BET - 8. HANS UP $70

have never thought about it, but others obviously have.
i read something on twitter 2 days ago......

Bar Plates still on Right Time for Saturday. Looking forward to hearing about them being removed in the parade yard

......so it's obviously a point of contention with some, and rightly so.

For some stupid reason I don't mind the chances of MCSCAR. I have never backed the horse, but I think it has a great e/w chance at 40/1.Senior rider aboard, bar plates OFF and did beat Machino 10mths ago, albeit 1400mtrs.Might just have the Harro stable as my top 3 for tri!

Agree @Chris - what looks easy on paper, this rain has the chance of playing havoc - wouldn't surprise me if we get some big results today!

Reckon the Mr Utopia/Hans Up multi looks good value (if MrU can handle the grandstand!)

    Race 1 - 2. Spin Da Wheels then 1,4,5,6,8
    Race 2 - 1. Mr Utopia then 2,3,6 then 9,10,12
    Race 3 - 1. Black Romeo then 12,3,5,6
    Race 4 - 5. Cyber Crime then 6 then 3,2,8,10
    Race 5 - 6. I See Luck then 3 then 1,2,9
    Race 6 - 3. Galoubay then 2,1,7 then 9,6
    Race 7 - 6. Settle Strada then 12,7,9 then 1,3
    Race 8 - 8. Hans Up then 1,6 then 2,15,16

    Quaddie - 6.3 // 3.2.1.7.9 // 6.12.7.9 // 8.1.6 = $120 for 100%

Also really like a few at value odds:
    Sky Magic - $15/$4 e/w
First Flight - watch on, been in good form.
    Malaika - Turner up, 54.5kgs - e/w all day $8/$2.45
Acorns (last start black type placed) $15/$4 e/w
Grey Cheval (Ryan Hill back onboard, drawn horribly, but could do a Park Lane) - e/w $12/$3.5

    Good Luck fellow punters!
