Flew up to some meetings over the Kalgoorlie Round with him many years ago. Ron always supplied the continental rolls.

Nothing to do with Harness Racing - but to do  with horses

How was that baarstard ( theve havent caught them yet ) who slaughtered ( shot ) 40 plus horses on that property in Qld - including foals and mares in foal

Rattled their community a bit - seasoned  Police officers  had never experienced a scene like it

One memorable Sunday at the stables late 70's.....no delicatessen lines but buckets of Kentucky Fried Chicken and fat brown envelopes, everyone smiling broadly!!!!

No, May 5th 1978....25's into 5/2 out to 6/1....drew 10 in a 6x4 format coming off 4 reinsmen school trials, bolted in.  Golden Time (ET Breese) was a bit before that,  when the stable was "non operational".

Was a kid stuffing around in old mans car, he had just got back from Kal round probably about 79.
Found a cheque on the seat so I put it away in glove box. Heard old man talking about lost cheque so I put my hand up.
Cheque was for purchase of Grosvner, from memory came from Vic, must have sold it to Ron over the round, can still remember the $ amount.

Yes, a Norman horse I think from SA, no idea who he was by but he was out of a trotting mare, maybe Court Martial? or similar. He went okay without being a super star as I recall.....maybe a 2.18/2.17 mark.

From memory JJ Del Basso trained & drove the handy Sparkling Chasseur in the mid 1980s as well.

JJ Del Basso had a very good 3yo towards the end. Bought it through my father ex Victoria can’t remember it’s name but I do remember FRK had it when it came over, looked like being a top liner but never went on with it as 4yo.

Off chestnut----meaning more like a blond chestnut ----opposite to a  liver chestnut

Tab Touch piiss me off with their gimmicks

But this win boost - one bet per  day

Race 7 today at Yarra Valley  Harness - i like the no 4 - small e/w

So Tab Touch put up $26 - with the win boost goes to $34 - precisely what Tab.Com are betting

    Tab Touch are a joke

FD Mcardles got to 126/1 , wasn't sure it could beat Copy n Pace so only had a couple bucks the win but thought 12 dollars the place was huge overs in that field..

Opened 151 and 11 in nsw - huge overs but didn’t back him and kicking myself - well done to those who didi - honest horse and nearly always.some hope off. A soft trip
  • freodockersfreodockers    2,667 posts
Soft trip a bit harsh GTC.
Good drive, once again the 10 horse field brings the outsider into the race.

hi freo -dont think he has ever breezed and won or led up the three wide line and won but is a good sit and kick horse or leading - not knocking him by saying he needs a soft trip as he has done a great job being driven(usually quite well) that way. Great horse around the stable and he is so good with Bretts kids that he has a home for life
  • freodockersfreodockers    2,667 posts
Agree GTC excellent sit and kick horse.
But you still have to have the motor to do it.
Great for the family to have a connection like that with the horse.

I see Bolta ( same ownership Jurd and Horne ) theve moved it up to Qld - 1st start in the state tonight - at Redcliffe tonight - got a sticky gate - no5 over the sprint trip - if they breeze i think it can win - with the 8 the obvious danger - but if they go back then it becomes a flukers hope

Didnt win a race in NSW - Menangle - alot weaker in Qld - i think it will win multiple races - but we will see how it goes
